Exclusive: Sahara One ceases broadcasting in UK

Sahara One has ceased broadcasting in the UK today on the Sky Digital platform, BizAsia can exclusively reveal.

In 2007, Sahara One launched in the UK alongside sister channel, Filmy, being distributed by Globosat. The latter was replaced by Sony SAB TV in 2008. Both channels became a part of the VIEWASIA premium package but subsequently went free-to-air in June last year.

Since being free, the channel has struggled to compete with big guns in the UK ratings but maintaining its own position. Sahara One India, which reportedly was going under a makeover later this year, will do so now without a UK presence.

Sahara One’s EPG 817 is expected to be filled with ABP News in the coming days.
