A new Birmingham-based Islamic educational channel is set to launch on Sky Digital in October.

The channel, which will broadcast from Aston, Birmingham will be launching on Sky Digital on Monday 23rd October with tests commencing on Monday 9th October. There were reports suggesting a September launch for Noor but were quashed by the channel today.

A spokesman for Noor TV has exclusively told BizAsia.co.uk that the channel will become the first ever Islamic educational channel: “Noor TV will be the first ever Islamic Educational channel Broadcasting on the Sky Platform from the city of Birmingham with state-of-the-art studios – both in the UK and Pakistan.”

Noor TV will also be one of the first Asian broadcasters to take full control of playout of the channel. It will be showing live and pre-recorded shows based on the Islam religion. It will broadcast free-to-air round the clock.
