EXCLUSIVE: MATV Music to launch this month

MATV is launching its all music and showbiz channel MATV Music this month, it has been confirmed.

The Leicester based broadcaster, which currently runs the flagship national service MATV (and regionally in Leicester on terrestrial) will make its new channel MATV Music available on Sky Digital on Monday 19th November.

As well as music orientated shows, MATV Music will also specialise in movies every weeknight, a similar schedule set-up to its existing channel.

Recently the main service underwent a programming refocus by dedicating up to twelve hours to Sanskar TV, a spiritual and religious channel from India. MATV has already been broadcasting a music strand for six hours after midnight each day.

Whilst there were talks going on between the Leicester based channel and Indian music service Music India to timeshare with MATV, seemingly these look to have failed. There have also been rumours that Music India will be tying up with yet another broadcaster instead.

MATV Music, which will be free-to-air, will soon be joined by a Sikh religious channel called Sukrit, the third channel in its bouquet. Details are awaited on this.

In the meantime EPG tests on MATV Music can be viewed on Sky Digital at:
