Exclusive: Lyca Mobile acquires Sunrise Radio Limited

As BizAsia revealed over the weekend, telecoms giant Lyca Mobile has acquired Sunrise Radio Limited.

BizAsia can exclusively confirm that the new owners have already taken control of the station, which broadcasts on 1458AM. Since midday today, Sunrise Radio 1 has been broadcasting back-to-back music without any Sunrise Radio branding. Sarita Sabharawal was forced to end her show half way at midday and bid a tearful goodbye to listeners.

It is unclear if Lyca Mobile has acquired all the stations or just a couple of them.

The administrators, Grant Thornton UK LLP is yet to announce the acquisition. The announcement will be made later today.

Buzz Asia Limited, which trades as Sunrise Radio 2 continues to run as normal and it is expected this will now be re-branded to just Sunrise Radio.
