EXCLUSIVE: Former Radio XL DJ joins Vectone

In a bid to spruce up its weekend line-up of shows, Vectone’s Punjabi entertainment channel on Sky Digital has signed up ex-Radio XL presenter Billy Babu.

Billy Babu, dubbed as the king of comedy of British Asian radio left Birmingham based Radio XL earlier this year to concentrate on other projects. Billy will takeover weekend mornings on Vectone Punjab. His weekend wake up call programme will showcase Punjabi music, blended with Billy’s delightful and witty humour.

Billy’s more than happy to be moving from the world of radio to TV; “I was at Radio XL for over two years, where I presented the breakfast show. I’ve also done a lot of stage work and so it?s not all that new to me being in front of hundreds of viewers. I’m looking forward to it and plan to bring something different to weekends on Vectone Punjab.”

Billy has worked on various other projects including stage and drama. He has also experienced huge fame for his unique quality in impressions of well-known celebrities. Vectone Punjab will be Billy’s first step into TV.

The thirty-something year old from Wolverhampton was last in the news in 2004 when he was locked up in prison for charity. He helped raised thousands of pounds for his weekend lock-in.

Watch out for a special one-to-one with Billy Babu in forthcoming weeks exclusively here on Biz Asia.

Billy’s show goes live on Saturday 13th August at 08:00 and will air Saturday and Sunday mornings for two hours from then on. Vectone Punjab can be found on Sky Digital EPG 814.
