Exclusive: Anita Rani joins BBC Asian Network

Days before the information is actually circulated to the press, Biz Asia can exclusively reveal that former Five presenter Anita Rani will be taking over weekend breakfast on the BBC Asian Network.

The show titled “Hot Breakfast” and broadcasted Saturday and Sunday between 8am and 10am has been vacant since Nikki Bedi’s departure from the show, who was shifted to the station’s Drive slot (4pm-7:30pm).

The six-month contract between the bubbly presenter and the station will see her transform the Hot Breakfast show, which has been faltering since Nikki left in December. Various guest DJs including Top Of The Pops presenter Tim Kash and ZEE Music’s Murtz Ali have all filled the slots until a permanent fixture was confirmed.

Anita has already had her fair share of experience on the Asian Network, filling in for Sonia Deol during her absence and also Hot Breakfast on a few occasions.

A number of other new presenters are also set to mark their debut in the coming weeks as weekend programming gets an overhaul.
