The UK launch date of Pakistani entertainment channel, A Plus has been confirmed.
Sources close to the channel, told BizAsiaLive.com exclusively that the channel will officially arrive on Sky in UK on Monday 23rd January 2017. It will be one of the first new Asian TV channels to launch in the new year.
A Plus will be entering an already competitive market where the likes of Hum TV, Geo TV and ARY Digital are already fighting for audiences. While viewership for Hum TV has dropped considerably since it launched, Geo TV has gathered pace. ARY Digital currently is not registered with audience measuring body, BARB. A Plus is expected to go on BARB at launch, so the impact of the service on the current crop of channels will be made available within weeks after its launch.
A Plus will be handled by Evolution, which also looks after the newly launched news channel on Sky 854 named UK44. Speaking to BizAsiaLive.com, Evolution’s Director Sales & Operations Ali Raza said, “A Plus will be a good addition to the GE channels in UK and Evolution is determined to put best possible efforts to make it a success. We are blessed to have UK’s number 1 Pakistani channel Hum TV and Channel 44. A Plus will further provide us with the opportunity to serve our advertiser’s needs.”
Tests for A Plus UK will begin off the Sky EPG at the beginning of January.
