The male-bonding genre has taken Bollywood by storm since 2001’s ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ which saw Farhan Akhtar’s debut as director and Ritesh Sidhwani’s first production. Since then, a number of male-bonding movies have continued what has proved to be a popular trend, the most recent being 2011’s ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’.

A source confirmed to Times of India, “Fukrey in Delhi slang means good-for-nothings. The movie will be set in Delhi to capture the flavour of North India. The story will revolve around young guys in high school and college. As far as the casting is concerned, the makers are looking at various options, but this time around they are considering giving some newcomers a break, which is a first for Ritesh and Farhan”.

This genre has become one that Excel Entertainment is now seen to specialise in and has helped Akhtar and Sidhwani gain a strong foothold into the industry. ‘Fukrey’ will be about male friendship along with the necessary comedy inclusions.
