Ex-BBC presenter takesover Drive at Club Asia
Former BBC Asian Network presenter Ray Khan is taking over the reigns at Club Asia as the new Drivetime presenter later this month.
In quite a surprise move, the current host Jas “The Man” is taking immediate leave due to personal reasons. This is the third blow for the award winning station in under a year. Last summer K-Jal, defected to rival Sunrise Radio. This was then followed by Missy D, the station’s previous Breakfast presenter departing from the station to pursue other projects.
The new host of Drive on Club Asia may prove a high point for the station, thanks to Ray Khan’s glittering background in radio. Ray previously fronted daily shows with the BBC including the Drive Show, The Breakfast Show and the Late Show. Since 1996 Ray has become a household name in the North and the Midlands regions.
In 2005 Ray decided to hang up his headphones to take a break after 9 years of daily broadcasting, but couldn�۪t resist the opportunity to join the UK’s only young orientated radio station – Club Asia. Ray tells us how it feels to join an award winning station, ���It�۪s great, I�۪m really excited to be working for a forward looking station�. He goes on to say, ���I was drawn to Club Asia because of the station�۪s fresh new approach� adding that Club Asia ���is pioneering in Asian radio�, describing it as ���the most cutting edge station in the country which has opted for new formats and is not afraid to experiment�.
Describing his presenting style as ���intelligent and smooth�, it sounds like listeners are in store for a fun filled drive. Jas ���The Man�, asks listeners to show Ray ���the same love and loyalty� that he has experienced during his time at Club Asia.
