Event Review: Bombay Funkadelic’s Bollywood Summer Fest

As the first week of September settled in, the hot summer days we had seem like a distant memory. However, on Saturday 8th September, with a whiff of autumn in the air, Bombay Funkadelic threw on their Bollywood Summer festival at the Pitch bar in Stratford, London.

Tucked away from the main street was a bright and colourful venue which certainly gave the Indian summer vibes! There was a welcoming atmosphere, with DJ Shai Guy on the decks blasting Bollywood hits one after the other, putting everyone in the mood for dancing!

There were games and activities for all – jumbo Jenga, table tennis and karom. If you fancied a spot of mehndi, Mehndi by Ameera was there to adorn your hand and sprinkle some sparkle too! Of course a Bollywood party would be incomplete without learning a few dance steps, luckily Nishaa George was there to teach the essentials getting people to join in the fun. The party was also all catered for with a fully stocked bar, shisha and finger licking yummy Indian street food by Kitchen Mai.

As guests, we were treated to a live band – Side Partition – who entertained the crowd with one medley after another, singing classic Bollywood songs to current hits, but with their own twist. Each member from Side Partition showcased their talent and had the audience on their feet, singing along to every word throughout their performance.

After their performance was complete, DJ Doni Brasco took over the decks to treat the crowds to best in Bollywood and Bhangra which kept them dancing the night away.
