Eurosport has retained the UK/Europe rights for cricket’s Champions League Twenty 20 (CLT20) for the next three years.

The event brings together some of the leading teams in domestic cricket from around the world each year. As part of the deal, Eurosports will carry live, delayed and replay coverage from Star Sports India. It will also be entitled to carry games on catch-up TV services. The new deal comes into effect from this month itself when the new series kicks off.

“The Champions League Twenty20 tournament gives viewers spectacular cricket from some of the game۪s top international stars,” said British Eurosport managing director David Kerr. “Eurosport has shown the CLT20 since 2009 and it۪s brought many new viewers to the channel, so extending the deal to 2016 gives us an opportunity to build the tournament and cricket awareness in general. We now look forward to another exciting event in September this year.”

The 2014 CLT20 will be played in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mohali and Raipur from 13th September to 4th October. There will be no English representatives due to the overlap with the end of the country’s county season, but teams from the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be involved alongside others from Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and the West Indies.

Eurosport has been the sole UK broadcaster of the tournament since its inception in 2009.
