A new Bengali infotainment channel is getting ready to launch on the Sky Digital platform.

Euro Bangla TV, as it will be known, is being described as a “free-to-air, community television service.” According to information on its website, the channel is expected to launch in August (but may get delayed depending on Sky Digital EPG availability).

Programmes will include news (local and international), lifestyle, culture, entertainment, education, informal knowledge-building, children, business, sports, religion, government, documentary and short films. The language will be mixed respectively.

In the UK, there are currently five channels serving the Bangladeshi community – Bangla TV, ATN Bangla, Channel S, NTV and the recently launched ZEE Cafe (selected shows).

At the time of filing this article, BizAsia.co.uk was awaiting an official word from Euro Bangla TV.
