Esha Gupta turns blogger for PETA

Esha Gupta

Esha Gupta, who is known as an ardent animal lover and PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) India supporter, has joined hands with the animal rights organisation to voice her opinion against the practice of Jallikattu.

Jallikattu is an ancient bull taming ritual required for reproduction of cows and bulls considered as part of Pongal celebrations.

For the first time, Esha has decided to turn a blogger, voicing her opinion against the evil practice of Jallikattu and bull races.

Esha says, These acts of cruelty (Jallikattu and bull races) directly violate the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, which states that it’s an offence to beat, kick, override or torture animals or otherwise cause them pain or suffering or for owners to permit such treatment.”

The wrong practice doesn۪t just harm and even kill bulls; hundreds of humans have also been hurt or killed during such events. If we allow jallikattu or bull races again, we will be taking a very big step in the wrong direction,۝ Esha adds.

Sachin Bangera,Associate Director of Celebrity and Public Relations says,”Esha has always condemned cruelty towards animals whether it is someone beating up a dog, the slaughtering of animals for meat, or the taunting of bulls for jallikattu. We know Esha is articulate and outspoken about these issues, and so we requested her to pen down her thoughts. We love Esha’s enthusiasm to help animals in every way. She is always just a phone call away for PETA when it comes to helping animals.”
