English Sony TV begins testing ahead of launch

The English entertainment channel from Sony has begun testing ahead of its official launch on Sky Digital later this week.

The channel, which will be known as Sony Entertainment Television will replace the defunct Film24 service on Sky channel 157-from Thursday (7th April).

SPT senior vice president of networks (EMEA) Eddie Nelson said that the UK is a pivotal market for Sony, adding, “Sony Entertainment Television has enjoyed success around the world bringing the best international hits to viewers and we intend to create that same success here, with content specifically chosen for the UK audience.”

Incidentally, the Asian equivalent of the channel has been broadcasting in the UK for over 12 years. The English channel has a similar name, logo and branding to its Asian sister station, Sony Entertainment Television Asia.
