Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Ezra’ remake to release straight to Amazon Prime?

With cinemas around India once again closed due to the ongoing pandemic, filmmakers have turned to digital platforms once again for films that are ready for release. films such as Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bell Bottom’ and Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Toofaan’ have already made the jump to OTT, with many others expecting to follow suit.

And now, as per recent reports, Emraan Hashmi’s supernatural horror thriller ‘Ezra’ will also directly release online. Amazon Prime has bought the film and will an aim to release the picture later in July, reports Peeping Moon.

‘Ezra,’ which also stars Nikita Dutta, Darshana Banik, Manav Kaul, and Vipin Sharma, is the fourth Bollywood title Amazon Prime has acquired in the last three months. The film is a remake of the 2017 critically-acclaimed Malayalam film of the same name and marks Hashmi’s third online venture after ‘Tigers’ (2014) and Netflix series, ‘Bard of Blood,’ produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment.

Backed by Abhishek Pathak, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Bhushan Kumar, ‘Ezra’ promises to provide extensive paranormal research and visuals to help push boundaries for the genre. Directed by Jay Krishnan, who also directed the original starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Priya Anand, the film revolves around a newly married woman who brings an antique Jewish box into her home unaware that the box contains a ghost.

Hashmi will then shoot for Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger 3’ once restrictions are lifted to allow filming. He will then move to Balwinder Singh Januja’s ‘Sab First Class Hai’ followed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte’s ‘Vayusena.’
