Emraan Hashmi: “Muslims are treated very well in India”

Emraan Hashmi

Never one to shy away from his outspoken comments, Emraan Hashmi says he is happy that Muslims are well treated in India given the diversity.

Speaking to IANS, Hashmi said, “With people from different castes and religions living in the country, I think we are doing pretty well. No major problems have erupted.”

He spoke in response to recent reports that he wanted to buy a house in the Pali Hill area but was refused a No Objection Certificate by the housing society because of his religion, as reported byMumbai Mirror.

However, Hashmi refuses to see his religion as the sole reason he was refused a house in the area by stating, I cannot comment on the status of the flat… can’t say that it does not exist or exist (but) it’s a great accomplishment for all the government bodies and everyone here that we are living in harmony to a certain extent. I believe we are doing pretty well. I would say that Muslims are being treated very well in India.”

Hashmi is currently on promotional duty with his new film Raaz Reboot۪ (2016) which is due for release next week.
