Emraan Hashmi @ 40: Five of his leading actresses
Today marks the 40th birthday of the sensational actor Emraan Hashmi. With over ten years in the industry Hashmi has worked with the likes of Jacqueline Fernandez, Dia Mirza and Shraddha Kapoor.
BizAsiaLive.com will look at his pairing with five actresses and their superb chemistry.
Prachi Desai
‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai’ (2010) saw Desai play the role of a girl named Mumtaz who likes the bad boy Shoaib played by Hashmi. The story was set in the 70’s and involved gangsters and their rivalries. Amongst all those enmities were some love stories with that of Shoaib and Mumtaz. Hashmi’s character loved his girlfriend a lot unfortunately the things he did scared her at times.
Their chemistry together was sweet with Hashmi as the guy who all girls should stay away from falling in love with the quiet and conservative Mumtaz. Both are so different yet they fall for one another. Again they were seen together in the 2016 film ‘Azhar’ which had Desai as the supportive wife of cricketer Azhar.
Vidya Balan
It may have sounded like an unusual pairing but when these two talented individuals appeared together the audiences couldn’t get enough of them. They first appeared in ‘The Dirty Picture’ (2011) which saw Hashmi as Abraham, a film maker who can not stand the sight of Reshma (Balan). He calls her names and wants to bring her down but Reshma possesses that magic that can make even her enemies fall in love with her and that is what happens.
Later they were seen in the 2013 comedy film ‘Ghanchakkar’ which had the two appear as husband and wife who get themselves into a spot of bother when two men turn up at their house demanding their share of money from a robbery. However it was the romantic tragedy ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ (2015) that drove their fans insane. They portrayed love in such a way that after this film everybody wanted to see them together.
Kangna Ranaut
Ranaut started her film career with Anurag Basu’s ‘Gangster’ which released in 2006. Although there were two male leads in this film it was Hashmi’s chemistry with Ranaut that is still remembered. Both actors received a lot of appreciation for their work in this film and after a few years they worked again in the thriller ‘Raaz: The Mystery Continues’ (2009).
They have worked in around four films together with each project different from the last. The film they appeared in last was ‘Power’ which was in 2015.
Mallika Sherawat
They appeared in only one film together but that was enough to remember the fiery chemistry they had. In 2004 they appeared in the first of the ‘Murder’ films with this one earning a lot of praise for its music and story. Hashmi and Sherawat received a lot of attention thanks to their scenes together, they themselves were perhaps not aware of how much the audiences would like them together.
One question many people have is if they worked together again would they still be able to create the same magic they did previously or not. With Sherawat taking a break from films it is something that looks unlikely to happen but their fans can only hope so.
Esha Gupta
Gupta made her acting debut in the sequel ‘Jannat 2’ (2012) where she was seen opposite Hashmi. That year she worked with Hashmi twice but this time in a different genre, this time it was a horror film called ‘Raaz 3’ (2012).
After a space of five years they came together for ‘Baadshaho’ (2017) which unfortunately didn’t do too well at the box office. However the music was appreciated and the two got to perform on the 1975 hit song ‘kehdoon tumhe’ which had been remixed.
The team at BizAsiaLive.com wishes Emraan Hashmi a very happy 40th birthday!
