Ekta’s new drama based on Shiney’s “rape”

Ekta Kapoor’s new drama, which will be shown on Sony Entertainment Television Asia, is based on disgraced Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja’s rape allegations.

The show called ‘Betaab Dil Ki Tamanna Hai’ will star Salim Ghouse and will depict the role of Shiney who was accused for raping his maid.

Ekta says she has done extensive research on the subject. “What I came to know shocked me. The Shiney Ahuja incident is not an isolated one. Men from the highest sections of society get sexually and emotionally attracted to their house help. I wanted to explore this fatal attraction.”

Vice President, Marketing, of the channel says, “We do have problems with some aspects of BDKTH but nothing that can�۪t be sorted out. It�۪s a serial that goes into the realistic space and we just need to cover our bases.”

Ekta says angrily, “I will pull out the serial but I won�۪t make any changes. BDKTH was born from my genuine concern about the lives of female househelps in Mumbai. What makes them vulnerable to sexual attack in a city that�۪s supposed to provide safety to women belonging to all sections of society?”

‘Betaab Dil Ki Tamanna Hai’ will also mark the return of TV favourite Urvashi Dholakia who returns to the small screen after a mini hiatus.

‘Betaab Dil Ki Tamanna Hai’ premieres on Tuesday 6th October at 22:00 and will then air Monday to Thursday.
