Its raining remakes and sequels! The latest to be remade is the classic ‘Nagin’ (1976) by Ekta Kapoor. Word has it that Sonakshi Sinha is firm favourite to bag the coveted role originally played by Reena Roy.
Incidentally, Sinha’s looks are regularly compared to Roy so it will be interesting to see how she will fit in her shoes. Jeetendra played the male lead in the original – so would son Tushar Kapoor carry the baton in the remake or Balaji favourite Emran Hashmi? Star cast details are yet to be announced.
Balaji Motion Pictures has already bought the rights from Rajkumar Kohli and is set to take the film on the floors next year after the production giant completes ‘Once Upon Time In Mumbai 2’.
Kohli confirmed the news to Mumbai Mirror, saying, I am selling the remake rights of Nagin to Balaji. Nagin is a good product but I am not interested in remaking it. So why should I keep it with me? Balaji is a good production house and I need money.
