Ekta Kapoor has been known to find the perfect faces and actors for her television shows, and movies. Her production houses, Balaji Telefilms and Balaji Motion Pictures, have conductedmany talent hunts, launching many prominent facesin both mediums. Now,Kapoor isall to ready to conduct another nationwidehunt,to cast an actress to playSangeeta Bijlani, for her next film which is a biopic on cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin. Bijlaniwas Azharuddin’s second wife.

Mumbai Mirror had earlier reported that Kareena Kapoor Khan was approached to playtherole, but will be doing ‘Udta Punjab,’ another Balaji production instead. Balaji had approached some popular names but to no avail. No one has agreed to the role and nowthe production house has decided to sign a newcomer forit. A source told the TOI, “After conversations with several leading ladies led no confirmation, the studio decided against casting an established name. They even looked at some Southern actresses, but none fitted the bill.”

Balaji’s Chief Creative Officer, Tanveer Bookwala, has confirmed thattheywillcarrying out anationwide hunt to cast for the role.It isa controversialone, that will beneeded to be carried off with much gusto, leading to the fact that none of the leading ladies are agreeing to it. “We are gearing up for the biggest nationwide hunt to find Bijlani. A new girl will debut with the Azhar biopic. It’s a controversial role which requires a lot of gumptionto carry off. We’re sure to find one in the coming month as the film goes on floors in May.”

Balaji Motion Pictures has twelve upcoming releases. ‘Udta Punjab’ willsee Khan alongside Diljit Dosanjh, and will also star Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor.
