Ekta holds auditions for new ‘Tulsi’ of Kyunki…

These days in television it is not enough to take a 20 year leap. A new twist has been added to the tale by Balaji Telefilms and STAR Plus for its fast forward track for Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. The production house has launched a mega talent hunt for the Virani parivar’s new generation. Ekta Kapoor has chosen the north zone for the search of fresh talent for the super hit show.

Says Kyuunki creative head Shivangi Singh Chauhan says, ” Balaji is always open to new talent.” Ekta Kapoor, the proud maker of this soap adds, “When the show had started we had roped in newcomers who have now made a big name for themselves, so we plan to do the same after six years, pulling out talent from the mass for the next generation!”

So was Mumbai short of talent? “We did go through the lot in Mumbai and Gujarat, but nothing worked out.” To this Smriti says, “Whenever I go for my political campaigns in north, many people come upto me and ask for help in terms of acting on the show. This certainly means that there is tremendous talent around, one just needs to explore it!”

The search is mainly for Krishnatulsi who takes over Tulsi’s position after the leap. “Krishnatulsi’s entry is going to be on the issue of female infanticide. Tulsi will meet Krishnatulsi on the banks of the Ganges. Tulsi then brings her up and instills her values in this girl. Krishnatulsi will be a shadow of Tulsi’s character. We will certainly show a generation gap between Tulsi and Krishnatulsi, she will be modern but with her values intact,” says Chauhan

Tulsi will move a step ahead and take Baa’s place. Baa will be on the show for around 50 episodes and lter will bid adieu to the six year old show. “I am very much against one thing when Balaji says that I will now take Baa’s place. No one can take her place. Sudha Aunty has done an incredible job and neither I nor any one in future will take her place ever.”

So all you guys and girls falling in the age group of 18-25 don your acting cap and start polishing your histrionic skills, as Balaji is on its way…Who knows you might just be the one!

Walk-in auditions will be conducted in New Delhi on 29 and 30 April at Marwah Studio, Noida. Shimla on 1 May at Chaura Maidan College and Chandigarh on 2 May at Dev Samaj College.
