Ed-Tech giant Byju suspends all promotional deals with SRK following Aryan’s arrest
While Aryan Khan remains in judicial custody following his drugs-raid arrest, well-known Ed-Tech company, Byju, have reportedly suspended all advertising deals with Shah Rukh Khan for the time being.
According to Bollywood Life, since Khan’s arrest Byju have been facing a lot of pressure from their followers online to cancel their association with the ‘Raees’ (2017) actor who has been an ambassador for the company for the past four-years, and is also said to be paid Rs. 3-4 crore per year for endorsing the brand. A source close to the matter said, “They (Byju’s) have paused all SRK-related promotions for now. It had to be pulled as the company which is in the area of education wouldn’t like to be seen in promotions with him given the controversy (over the drug case involving his son) These ads were booked in advance—as is the process—so it took some time to stop all of them.”
This will be a massive blow for both Byju and the ‘Dear Zindagi’ (2016) actor, who have equally benefited from the partnership. Rohit Ohri, group chairman at creative ad agency FCB, India, shared, “Byju’s has benefited immensely from its association with SRK. Shah Rukh’s association with the edtech brand has been so intrinsic and so deep, that even if Byju’s is pausing the advertising for now, it will be very difficult for the brand to delink itself from SRK.”
Khan is also the face of BigBasket owned by Tata Group, a spokesperson from the company said, “BigBasket will not like to validate, deny or comment anything on this.”
