Eastern Media Group papers become online-only

Weekly newspapers Eastern Voice and The Sikh Times will no longer be available in print format. Instead, both will become daily available online-only.

Eastern Media Group has decided to progress positively and ‘Go Green’, by making the transition from print to an innovative online news portal.

The publications will be free to view on the website, with no subscription fee at all. A statement to BizAsia.co.uk said, “Even though all of our news will be on the website, we are still based on at our headquarters in Birmingham and are never far away from exploring issues which are close to communities and individuals. The new move will benefit the environment and your daily need for the latest news.”

Editor, Gurjeet Bains, of The Sikh Times and Eastern Voice said, “This is a very exciting opportunity for us to go daily, especially given the huge increase in Internet use globally.”

“We will be the first Asian media company to have a daily online facility for both our papers that will be totally free.”

The statement continued, “Eastern Media Group will still strive to unite diverse communities, nationally and internationally. Both publications will reach out to the heart of the communities and report on issues which need to be bought into the public interest.”

Marking a new positive development, the re-developed website will launch and go live on the 28th July.

Eastern Media Group has recently moved offices, to 160 Rolfe Street, Smethwick, West Midlands, B66 2AU. The website can be viewed at www.easternmediagroup.co.uk .
