EastEnders Ferreiras finally given chop

After much hoo haa and continuous rants about EastEnders’ most dullest family, the BBC has confirmed that the Asian family known as the Ferreira’s will be leaving the show next year.

In a mutual decision between the programme makers and the actors, it was decided that the characters’ stories had run their course. The family first arrived in Walford in June 2003 and live at No. 55 Victoria Road, Walford.

An EastEnders spokesperson says: “The acting ability of all of the talent has been outstanding over the past year and we’d like to thank them for their professionalism and dedication to the job. We wish them all the very best of luck for the future.”

Nabil Elouahabi (Tariq) comments: “I’ve really enjoyed being part of the show and look forward to moving onto pastures new.”

Ray Panthaki (Ronny) comments: “I’m very grateful for the experiences EastEnders has given me but I’m now incredibly excited about moving onto other projects, particularly one I have already lined up.”

Jemma Walker (Sasha) comments: “I came in originally for just a few
episodes last year and was delighted when offered a six month contract. “I’m actually going to have been here for longer than that when I leave and I’ve loved every minute of working with Pooja, Raji, Nabil, Ameet and Ray. They’ve made it a pleasure.”

Pooja Shah (Kareena) comments: “I’ve loved being part of the show and I’m going to miss everyone involved, cast, crew and production because it’s like having been part of a family.” The Ferreira’s and the character Sasha (known as Adi’s girlfriend) will be seen on screen until Spring, next year.
