East FM presenter Ruhila Adatia killed in Nairobi attacks

A presenter on African station East FM has died following an attack by up to ten gunmen at the Westgate Mall in Nairobi’s Westlands area.

According to reports, gunmen with sophisticated weapons started shooting indiscriminately while ordering people to lie on the ground. East FM at the time was holding an event at the shopping complex, which has resulted in its Drivetime presenter Ruhila Adatia being killed in the attacks.

Reports suggest that Adatia was rushed to Aga Khan University Hospital but doctors were unable to save the popular presenter from her serious injuries.

The shootout happened today around 13:00 local time. Unconfirmed reports have it that some of the shoppers and staff at the mall attempted to escape by jumping from the second floor to the first, getting injured in the process.
