Doordarshan India to launch in UK by year-end

Doordarshan’s much awaited international channel ‘DD India’ will not be launching in the UK tertiary until the end of 2006.

Replying to supplementaries during Question Hour in Indian government, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said the service would be available in several countries.

However, he also pointed out that the US version of the Doordarshan channel is likely to be completed sooner with the tendering process already completed.

The proposed DD channel connecting London has got affected due to certain reasons. DD India was initially due to launch last summer and was then delayed to early 2006.

Dasmunsi said adding the tender bids for the DD channel for the Middle East would be finalised soon.
