India’s state broadcaster Doordarshan is one step closer to its official Sky Digital UK launch on Monday (16th April).

General entertainment channel DD India and 24 hour news service DD News have both begun full video and audio testing today.

DD India and DD News will be distributed by London’s Rayat Group. The group is new to television and specialise in retail, including air travel and technology.

A grand media launch is taking place in London this Sunday to mark the much awaited presence of the two channels.

DD News will become only the third Indian news broadcaster to be available in the UK after STAR News and NDTV 24×7.

Doordarshan has confirmed to BizAsia.co.uk that both channels will be available free-to-air and there are no such plans to encrypt the channels after launch.
