It may feel as if Bollywood makes the most of all occasions and holidays by timed releases and actor-producer superstitions. One of the most popular release dates of the year has to be at Diwali and 2012 is going to be no different. It will see a clash between Ajay Devgn’s home production, ‘Son Of Sardar’,and Yash Chopra’s next (currently untitled)starring Shah Rukh Khan.
Devgn seemed unaffected by the competition as reported by the Hindustan Times, “Diwali۪s been lucky for me with films like Golmaal Returns (2008), All The Best (2009) and Golmaal 3. Rascals (2011), that released last Dussera, had a vulgar streak, I۪ll never do a film like that again”. Devgn’s latest offering, ‘Tezz’,releases tomorrow (27th April).
Devgn, when asked about the YashRaj project, says, “I don۪t know about their (YRF۪s) film, but SOS is a comic love story with lots of action, a perfect festival film.”
Chopra’s film stars Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma alongside Khan and sees the return of Chopra himself as a director. It is already one of the most awaited films of 2012 and Diwali is sure to see the kind of clash where one may outdo the other purely in the popularity stakes.
