Distributors seek compensation for ‘Kaabil’ losses?

Despite having released on the same day as Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’ (2017), the ‘Kaabil’ (2017) team did extremely well, where the film was received with huge applause worldwide. However, in a minority of areas, the film was given the opposite response, which has led distributors of those regions to seek compensation for their losses from Rakesh Roshan himself.

As Bollywood Hungama reports, where the film had received the right to be released nationally and internationally, the film managed to make over a whopping Rs 100 crores, making a greater profit then their own budget on Rs 50 crores. The report goes on to add that some distributors have approached the filmmaker asking for their losses to be redeemed where the film didn’t do as well, claiming to be owed Rs 15 crores.

However when asked about the news Roshan simply shrugged them off as rumours. “I have heard these rumours that have been done by some people who are not happy with the success of ‘Kaabil’, so the best is to ignore them and let them die their own death,” he expressed.

‘Kaabi’ starred Hrithik Roshan, Yami Gautam, Ronit Roy and Rohit Roy.
