Disha Patani replaces Shruti Haasan for ‘Sangamithra’?

Rumours suggest that Disha Patani may be roped in to star in a Telugu historical drama ‘Sangamithra’, replacing Shruti Hassan who had been down initially for the part.

Reported in Mid-Day, a source close to the project said the announcement of Patani being signed for the film was imminent. “Disha has been signed for the project. The makers will very soon make an official announcement. It’s going to be a role of a lifetime for her.”

Directed by Sundar C. and produced by Sri Thenandal Films, the film will be made in both Telugu and Hindi and said to be next big budget film estimated to cost Rs 150 crore. “It will be simultaneously made in Telugu. In Hindi, however, it will be made with an entirely different cast and the process will take time,” said the source.

Music will be composed by the maestro himself A. R. Rahman who is excited to be a part of this project said, “It’s a very ambitious film. Six months back when I heard just 30 minutes of the narration, it was good enough for me to come on board.”…”Sangamithra not only has great story but Sundar has good vision for music too”, added Rahman.

He also praised the production house too, “Nothing as compelling as ‘Sangamithra’ came my way in recent times. The project is in the right hands.”

Shooting for ‘Sangamithra’ is expected to commence in December this year.
