Dish TV & Bharti Airtel merger plans called off

Merger talks between Essel Group’s Dish TV and Bharti’S Airtel have collapsed.

Reports say that the talks, which commenced eight months ago, ended over differences with each company’s valuations. It is said that Dish was unhappy with the terms on the table from Airtel.

It is being reported that Dish TV, which was looking for an all-cash deal, will explore the idea of a global investor to acquire up to half the business.

Dish TV has a 30 per cent market share, while Airtel has a 24 per cent. If the deal went through, together the merger would have made it the biggest DTH platform in India.
