Diljit Dosanjh not interested in Bollywood struggle

Diljit Dosanjh 1

Already a Punjabisuperstar, in the field of both movies and music, it is a known fact that Diljit Dosanjh’s songs are popular across the globe. With many regional singers trying to expand their career toBollywood, one would wonder why Dosanjh is not signing upto do playback for Hindi filmsongs. However, he has confessed that he is not interested inthe struggle.

Speaking to Mid Day, Dosanjh said, “Iam a Punjabi folk lover. I don’t make music for a national audience. My target audience is the typical Punjabi peeps. I am not a music producer, and I’m clear I cannot continuously keep churning out music for Hindi movies. I cannot become a struggler here when I already have a flourishing career back home. I cannot store my music in a bank like composers here do. When I see Punjabi musicians in Bollywood, I see them struggle even after delivering a string of hits. They remain dependant, which takes the soul out of their music. Though I am a singer first, I always knew acting was my route into Bollywood.”

On the acting front, Dosanjh stepped into Bollywood with ‘Udta Punjab’ (2016), which won him many favourable reviews. He will nextbe seen in Anushka Sharma’s ‘Phillauri’.
