Diljit Dosanjh fans slam Andrew Tate for racist “stinks of curry” comment

Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati tour recently touched down in Delhi for two electrifying, sold-out concerts at the JLN Stadium, where the singer delighted fans with his vibrant performances and heartfelt interactions.

Among the highlights, a viral moment showed Diljit gifting his jacket to a fan, sparking waves of appreciation and excitement online. However, the gesture received a controversial reaction when social media personality Andrew Tate made a racially charged comment about the incident.

The video clip, shared by an X user, playfully poked fun at the fan’s partner, captioning it, “Men used to go to war… now they’re shedding tears of joy because their wife got someone else’s used jacket.” Tate then replied, “Bet it stinks of curry,” a remark criticised as a derogatory jab targeting South Asians, invoking stereotypes around hygiene and food.

The backlash was immediate, with Diljit’s fans and the Indian diaspora voicing strong disapproval. One fan responded, “Diljit is millions times the man you are, baldy human trafficker, your joke ain’t funny,” referencing Tate’s legal issues involving human trafficking allegations. Another X user wrote, “Still smells better than sexual misconduct,” in response to Tate’s remark.

Even some of Tate’s own followers criticised his comment, with one remarking, “Andrew, I did respect you a lot. Guess I have to say you STFU for this one.” Others noted Tate’s descent from a once-popular influencer to someone who stirs controversy for engagement, as one user observed, “Andrew Tate becoming a rage-baiting reply guy is the craziest fall-off I’ve ever seen in a famous person.”
