Dharmendra, Alka Yagnik, Satish Shah & Mammootty named in Padma Shri ’26 list
The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the Padma Awards 2026, recognising several distinguished personalities from the Indian entertainment industry. Among those honoured this year are Dharmendra, Satish Shah, Alka Yagnik, Mammootty, Arvind Vaidya, Prosenjit Chatterjee, and R Madhavan, across the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri categories.
Veteran actor Dharmendra, who passed away in November 2025, has been posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan for his exceptional contribution to Indian cinema.
Actor Satish Shah, beloved for his portrayal of Indravadan Sarabhai in ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’, has been posthumously conferred the Padma Shri. He died in October 2025 following a period of ill health.

Celebrated playback singer Alka Yagnik, whose voice has shaped Bollywood music for decades, has been honoured with the Padma Bhushan. Sharing the same distinction is Malayalam cinema icon Mammootty, recognised for his transformative influence on Malayalam filmmaking through culturally rooted and progressive storytelling.
Actors Prosenjit Chatterjee, Arvind Vaidya, and R Madhavan have also been acknowledged for their contributions to Indian cinema, receiving honours across the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan categories.
