Details of ‘Indian Idol 5’ emerge; New producers

Details have emerged of Sony Entertainment Television Asia’s big ticket show, ‘Indian Idol 5’ and hints at a new production house handling the popular programme.

After years of production control, Wizcraft Production will replace Miditech as producers of the new series, which kicks off on Sony TV in the early part of April. Wizcraft Production has previously looked after Sony TV’s other successful show, ‘Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega’.

Namit Sharma, business head of Wizcraft confirmed the news to TellyChakkar, “We are co producing this season with Fremantlemedia. The channel approached us, so we pitched our ideas for the content of this show and they liked it, so they finalised us to co-produce it. We are very happy because this show is very popular so it is going to be challenging for us to maintain its standard and at the same time introduce new twists in this season.”

Whilst information on hosts and judges are being kept underwraps, it is likely that Anu Malik will be seen as one of the judges for the fifth year running. A spokesman for the show said that there will be no children involved in the upcoming series.

Anu Malik who judged the earlier four seasons and was part of the two seasons of ‘Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega’ says, “I have been hearing things. I had a contract with the channel for four seasons and at the moment they have not offered me anything, so nothing is confirmed.”
