Desh TV begins testing on Sky Digital

A new channel targeting the UK Bengali community has begun testing off the Sky Digital EPG, ahead of its official launch next month.

The new service called Desh TV will predominantly broadcast shows recorded locally for its UK audience. It will also carry imported shows from its main channel in Bangladesh.

Desh TV has been available in Bangladesh since 2007 and specialises in entertainment and news/current affairs shows.

Incidentally, one of the UK’s first Bengali channels, Bangla TV, which went off air in December last year, also is staging a return next month. It began testing on the Sky Digital platform earlier this week too.

In the meantime, the visual testing of Desh TV can be viewed by manually tuning. Details below of how viewers can tune in:

-> Using your Sky Digi remote, go to Services Menu
-> System Setup (4)
-> Add Channels (4)
-> Enter frequency: 12.523 (V), FEC: 2/3, SR: 27500
-> Find Channels and Press SELECT
-> Highlight “Stop + Shop” service and press Yellow button.
-> Return to Services Menu
-> Other Channels (6) on STB / (8) on Sky+
-> “Stop + Shop” should be listed and available
