Delhi HC: ICL cannot sue BCCI in UK court

The Delhi High Court has said that ZEE Network’s Indian Cricket League (ICL) cannot sue the Indian cricket board (BCCI) in the UK court.

ICL, which was launched under Essel Sports, had sent a legal notice last month to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) threatening to file a suit in the High Court of England & Wales in London.

was seeking various reliefs and damages against the BCCI, the England and Wales Cricket Board and the International Cricket Council for not recognising it.

However, BCCI filed an anti-suit injunction against Essel Sports Pvt. Ltd. in the Delhi High Court. BCCI said in a release saying that the Delhi High Court today passed an order ���restraining Essel Sports (ICL) from filing a suit in the Courts of the UK against the BCCI.”

Essel Sports had said in the notice that if they did not receive a full and satisfactory substantive response from the BCCI by 7th December, they would file proceedings in the English Court.
