Deepika Padukone’s remake of ‘The Intern’ to roll in mid-2021

A year has nearly passed since the announcement was made about Deepika Padukone starring in the remake of Hollywood movie, ‘The Intern’ (2015). However, the untimely death of Rishi Kapoor, who was due to co-star in the movie, as well as the current pandemic, put the film on the back burner. Reports now say the film is scheduled to go on floors in mid-2021 with the makers still in the hunt to find a replacement for Kapoor’s role.

Kapoor was supposed to play Robert De Niro’s character, with Padukone playing Anne Hathway’s role, reports Spotboye. She shared the latest news on social media by posting, “Thrilled to present my next! The Indian adaptation of #TheIntern A 2021 release!” The film was supposed to be released in 2021. But this was delayed due to COVID.

Few months back, Padukone said in regards to the movie, “I have been looking for a light, breezy comedy-drama and this story fits in seamlessly. I cannot wait to begin this journey.” She went on to say, “The Intern is an intimate, and relationship-driven film that is set in and around the workplace.”

The superstar is also currently shooting for Shakun Batra’s next movie and, as per reports, she will be starring in ‘Pathan,’ alongside Shah Rukh Khan.
