Deepika Padukone’s midriff to be covered up in ‘Padmaavat’
There was ongoing objection when the first song from ‘Padmaavat’ was released. Ghoomar showed Deepika Padukone in a ghagra showing her midriff. It seems the CBFC have asked for the song to now cover up Padukone’s bare tummy and this will be done through computer graphics.
“The CBFC’s Examining Committee asked the film’s producers – the director was not present during the censor screening – to remove the shots where her stomach was visible. However such editing would have disturbed the smooth choreographic flow of the elegant dance number. The director preferred to conceal Deepika’s belly through computer graphics,” said a source who was present at the screening, according Deccan Chronicle.
The source went on to say, “The screening and the discussion post the screening went on from 5 pm till almost 2 am. CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi was present. The historians and representatives of ex-royals raised many objections. But the board members of CBFC found nothing objectionable in the content. They recommended a ‘UA’ with minor modifications”.
There is a suggestion following this that the film wills struggle to release on the said 25th January date which was confirmed by the makers.
