Deepika Padukone’s ‘Chhapaak’ lands in legal trouble?

The trailer of Meghna Gulzar directed ‘Chhapaak’ has left many impressed and excited for the film’s release next month. However, the Deepika Padukone starrer seems to have landed in some legal bother with a writer having approached the Bombay High Court claiming that the original story is his.

Rakesh Bharti has alleged that he submitted the story some years back and has asked that he therefore be creditted as one of the writers. He said that back when he wrote it, it wasn’t able to be made. The plea is quoted by Hindustan Times, “However, the project could not commence due to unavoidable circumstances. The plaintiff had narrated the idea to Fox Star Studios, which is the production house for Chhapaak”.

Bharti is thought to have approached the makers of ‘Chhapaak’ but when he received no response, he decided to take a plea to the High Court. The case is due to be heard on 27th December.
