Deepika Padukone would love to play Saina Nehwal

As reported by BizAsia earlier this year, there has been much speculation about Deepika Padukone being cast in Amol Gupte’s biopic on the life and work of Saina Nehwal. Padukone has now gone on record to state that she would love to play Nehwal onscreen.

Absolute India quote Padukone as having told Agencies, “I would love to play Saina onscreen. We have played together in fact and obviously she was way better .. She also said to me ‘good’ also. We had fun time… Of course anything for the love of sports specially if it is badminton.”

Nehwal also expressed��that Padukone would be the ideal choice, saying, “Of course Deepika Padukone. She used to play badminton. Her father was a badminton player. I think she would do good justice to the role. I wish she could do the role.”

Padukone is currently busy training for her Hollywood debut.
