Deepika Padukone turns down item song in ‘Kaanchi’

Deepika Padukone is a true front-runner this year with three of her four releases being great successes and her fourth coming this week carrying huge expectations. No doubt the actress will have gotten a little choosy in her projects as BizAsia has learnt that she has refused to do an item number in Subhash Ghai’s ‘Kaanchi’.

It is thought that her ex-flame’s father, Rishi Kapoor, recommended her for the song to Ghai. Interestingly, the actress politely turned down the offer.

Could it be that Padukone does not want to be known for being an item-girl? Time will certainly tell. Meanwhile, the actress is gearing up for her next movie, ‘Ram-Leela’, which releases on Friday.
