Deepika Padukone to play Saina Nehwal in Amole Gupte’s biopic?

Only a few days ago, BizAsia reported, director Amole Gupte will be making a biopic on Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal. However, there is speculation now that actress Deepika Padukone will be playing Nehwal’s character.

According to sources, Padukone has not signed any new films, but had been in talks with various directors including Gupte prior to the release of ‘Bajirao Mastani’ (2015).

Padukone, a daughter of a well-known badminton player and a keen sportswomen herself, will make a great badminton player for the film. However, there is no official confirmation as to who is being cast for the film.
