Deepika Padukone to be Manish Malhotra’s showstopper

Popular designer Manish Malhotra will be opening the forthcoming India Couture Week this year and none other than Deepika Padukone will be his showstopper.

The actress, who is all set for a Hollywood debut with the next film, will be closing Malhotra’s show on 20th July. Malhotra told Hindustan Times, “Deepika for me is that actor who has single-mindedly worked towards being where she is each day, and improved and evolved with time. She speaks the language of today and carries any kind of garment with a coolness which is very contemporary, along with grace, elegance and old-world charm”.

Malhotra’s collection is called The Persian Story. He added, “It�۪s a reinvented Indian couture line celebrating old-world embroidery and art and craft, along with ancestral Indian trends mixed with Persian influences”.

Malhotra has been designer for many but probably most remembered for his looks for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
