Deepika Padukone paid Rs. 14 crore for ’83’?

With Kabir Khan’s gathering much momentum after the signing of real-life couple, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone together for cricket drama ’83’, rumours are rife about how much the latter has got paid.

According to The Asian Age, Padukone has been paid quite an attractive figure to play the role of Kapil Dev’s wife, Romi Bhatia. A source said, “‘83 is about the Indian cricket team led by Kapil Dev winning the 1983 World Cup in England and Wales. How much of a role Deepika can have as Kapil Dev’s wife in a plot that is not devoted to Kapil’s off-field life?”

Another source said it was the zeros on the cheque that persuaded Padukone to do the film. It is reported she is being paid Rs. 14 crore for the role. “She was in two minds and wasn’t sure if she wanted to play a non-central character. I think Ranveer almost convinced her, then the zeros on the cheque did the rest.”
