Deepika Padukone on ‘Padmavati’ row: “This has to stop”

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming epic ‘Padmavati’ has been embroiled in controversy for a number of weeks.

The film took a shocking turn when a body was found hanging from a fort in Jaipur with a note implying rage against the film.

Talking to Filmfare about this, Padukone said, “We belong to this land as much as anyone else. So why are we constantly held responsible for everything political and otherwise that goes on here and have our films held on ransom? Really, it has to stop!”

‘Padmavati’ is due out early next year.
