The now infamous AIB roast’s after effects is far from over. The roast which involved a lot of popular Bollywood names weren’t taken nearly as entertaining as it was intended to be. While director Karan Johar and actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor still have complaints registered against them, actress Deepika Padukone who was only an audience member got dragged into the controversy also; but looks like Padukone can sigh a heap of relief, as the Bombay High Court has given her police protection against arrest until 16th March.

The roast was meant for the actors to poke fun at themselves, but complaints started to follow as soon as the show was aired. According to Pinkvilla, Padukone thought this was entirely unfair, and filed two petitions against the cases filed against her at Pune and Mumbai. Padukone’s lawyer Ameet Nayak said, “The Maharashtra Region and Town Planning Act does not apply as she was a spectator. Sections 294 and 509 cannot apply.”

The AIB roast had become so controversial that it had to be pulled of the maker’s YouTube page. Other actors to have complaints registered against them for their support of the roast were Alia Bhatt and Sonakshi Sinha.
