Deepika Padukone honoured with Smita Patil Memorial Award
Deepika Padukone seems to be on a dream run. After all the plaudits for her uninhibited performance in ��Cocktail�۪, and the barrage of big films that have come her way, now comes the news of her being honoured with the prestigious ‘Smita Patil Memorial Award’.
The award in the name of renowned actress Smita Patil was started in 1984 by the Priyadarshini Academy. Every year they select an actress and honour her with this recognition towards her contribution to the film industry. Vidya Balan, Preity Zinta, Kareena Kapoor, Urmila Matondkar, Karisma Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Tabu, Madhuri Dixit, Manisha Koirala, and Meenakshi Sheshadri have all won the coveted award in the past.
The honour will be bestowed upon Padukone at the 28th Anniversary Global Awards function of the Priyadarshni Academy on 18th September 2012.
Padukone will next be seen in ��Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani�۪ (with Ranbir Kapoor), and ��Race 2�۪ (whice re-unites her with Saif Ali Khan).
