Deepika Padukone declines Kabir Khan’s ’83’

BizAsiaLive.com reported recently that the makers of Ranveer Singh starrer ’83’ had approached Deepika Padukone to play Romi Bhatia, wife of Kapil Dev. However, it seems the actress has declined the part.

“’83 is a boys’ films. The focus is on Kapil Dev and his team bringing home the World Cup. Ranveer plays Kapil Dev. While Deepika playing his wife Romi sounds tempting, it’s just not true. Kapil Dev’s wife’s role will be very limited in this film and Deepika is a huge brand. She wouldn’t do any film just because her husband is in it,” said a source, according to Deccan Chronicle.

Padukone and her now husband Singh have shared the screen a number of times and seeing them doing so again will be quite a moment when it happens. However, it seems this isn’t the film that will make that happen.
