Deepika Padukone cut off from friends during ‘Bajirao Mastani’

Deepika Padukone is flying high these days in Hollywood. However, she has delivered one of her most praiseworthy performances in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’ (2015). She talked about losing contact with her friends during the shoot.

“Films are all-consuming.�� When I was shooting for Bajirao��_ I was totally cut-off from my friends for more than a year. You have to sacrifice your personal time, your social life. You have to go to bed early to be on time the next day. To be a thorough professional, you�۪ve got to make huge sacrifices. And your relationship, not only with actors but even your other friends and family takes a beating,” said Padukone in an interview with Filmfare.

Talking about her character in the film, she went on to say, “Mastani had so many facets. She had a strong willpower; she was determined and focused. And at the same time, she was vulnerable, romantic and beautiful. It was a challenge to blend all these traits and bring her alive on film”.
